Join Tucson's Live Events Workers and IATSE Local 415 as we Rally in support of:
-The RESTART Act & Save Our Stages Act
-Access to Tucson CARES Act funds and
-A comprehensive plan for a SAFE return to work.
Six months have elapsed since all Live Venues in the country were effectively shuttered due to Covid-19 in March. 77% of workers in the live event industry have lost 100% of their income. Industry personnel, venues and firms will not see a full return to work until well into 2021.
This rally for live event workers in the Tucson area is to draw attention to the plight of our industry, request better access to relief money from City of Tucson's CARES Act fund to help those in need due to the shutdown of live events, garner support from elected officials to push the Save Our Stages (SOS) and RESTART Acts through to law, and ask city, county and state officials to use guidelines from The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) to enact a plan to safely reopen our venues and outdoor arenas so live events can resume.
Park at the Tucson Convention Center Lot B at Cushing and Granada. Meet on the west side of Lot B, off Granada for staging at 8:30 am. We will go to the intersection of Granada and Congress, then fan out along the city and county buildings, then to Veinte de Agusto Park, to hear industry speakers, around 10 am.
Please make a sign representing your industry sector or labor union; be creative. This is a civil, non-partisan rally promoting the local live event industry. We are representing industry wide solidarity.
Due to COVID-19, we are asking all participants to wear masks and practice social distancing, as per local mandates. If you are not able to wear a mask or are feeling sick, please do not attend, at the risk of infecting others.
